The Most Anticipated Games of E3

Bookmark and Share
It's almost here--that time of year when the entire video game industry converges on downtown Los Angeles to strut their stuff at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Needless to say, it's going to be an exciting show with plenty of games and even some new hardware from Nintendo and Sony scheduled to make an appearance. The GameSpot editorial team has--in no particular order--selected some of the games that they're most excited about seeing when E3 officially opens its doors on June 7.

Postponing the release of Gears of War 3 was disappointing, but Epic Games has given fans some time to practice curbstomping and chainsawing with its multiplayer beta in the meantime. We know the game is finished, but there are still a few modes we'd like to get our hands on, and hopefully that will come at E3 2011.

 Battlefield 3

In an era when everyone is trying to make a Call of Duty clone, DICE may be one of the few studios out there with the talent and resources necessary to create the new standard in military shooters. But whether DICE follows the Call of Duty formula or sets off in its own direction remains to be seen. We just know that we're eager to see where Battlefield 3 is headed.

Final Fantasy XIII-2

Not much is known about the direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII other than that Lightning remains the star of the show. Square Enix likes to remain mysterious, especially when it comes to its Final Fantasy properties (ahem, Versus? Hello?). Either way, it sure knows how to keep that carrot dangling, and we're excited to see what Final Fantasy XIII-2 has in store.

Max Payne 3

With the imminent release of L.A. Noire, we can't help but think about another noir crime series in Rockstar's stable, Max Payne. The third entry in the series that pioneered bullet time has been delayed many times, but the appearance of a fresh batch of screens last month bodes well for a Max Payne 3 showing at E3 2011.
